The Columbus Register of Historic Places is the city's official listing of individual properties, groups and districts of historic and architectural significance. Columbus has 19 historic districts and 34 individual buildings listed on the Register. The Historic Preservation Office provides technical assistance to property owners and potential buyers who would like to purchase historic properties. Staff also works with the Housing Division rehabilitation technicians, Code Enforcement staff, Building Services Division zoning staff, the Franklin County Municipal Environmental Court and the Department of Recreation and Parks. Historic Preservation also staffs the city's five historic Architectural Review Commissions which includes the Brewery District Commission, the German Village Commission, the Historic Resources Commission, the Italian Village Commission and the Victorian Village Commission.
